This film was supposed to be directed by Kannan who had earlier directed Settai. The Hindi film Raanjhnaa which has Dhanush in the lead role is to be released soon. Dhanush while speaking about this said, "I have not spoken to Rajini about my first Hindi film Raanjhnaa. Like me he is also busy in his works. 
Actress Shriya has donned the role of a call girl in the Telugu film titled Pavithra. This film is also being dubbed in Tamil. Earlier Anushka donned the role of a commercial sex worker in the Tamil film Vaanam and Shruthi Haasan is also donning the role of a commercial sex worker in a Hindi film. 
It is still not known that when the Rajini starrer Kochadaiyaan will hit the screens. It is understood that the post- production is still going on and A R Rahman is busy in London re-recording for this film. 
The Hindi film Raanjhnaa which has Dhanush in the lead role has been dubbed in Tamil with the title Ambikapathy. It was earlier announced the both the versions will be released simultaneously. For the first time Dhanush has donned the lead role in a Hindi film. 
These days Santhanam is interested in donning hero oriented comedy roles. The reason for this is the film Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya.
